The Supreme Court on Tuesday turned away an appeal from John Nassif, a January 6 defendant who challenged a law that bans “parading, picketing, and demonstrating” at the US Capitol as a violation of the First Amendment.

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear arguments from a January 6 rioter that a law preventing demonstrations at the U.S. Capitol violates the First Amendment.

The Supreme Court said Tuesday it will not consider a challenge to a misdemeanor charge used against scores of Jan. 6, 2021, rioters for unlawfully “parading” in the Capitol. Florida native John Nassif was convicted of four misdemeanor counts in connection with the Capitol riot and sentenced to seven months in prison,
