Floods and landslides in Myanmar caused by Typhoon Yagi and monsoon rains have killed at least 226, state media say

Thailand warned a new storm may cause more floods and landslides, while death toll from Typhoon Yagi and the monsoon rains continued to rise.

In the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, the region's death toll has surged past 500 as floods and landslides hit Myanmar.

The death toll in Myanmar in the wake of Typhoon Yagi has reached 293, with 89 people missing, the junta said on Thursday, as state media reported the first arrival of foreign aid.The previous death toll reported by the junta was 268 people dead and 88 missing.

A week after Typhoon Yagi and monsoon rains triggered severe flooding in Myanmar, residents in the capital, Naypyitaw, have begun cleaning their homes.
